Japanese Sci-Fi References

Fun post time!
NARASAKI is a huge sci-fi fan.
Here are some references he used:

NARASAKI got his alias, Goro Watari, from the main character of Inazuman (1973).

SADESPER RECORD got it's name from Sadespar.

U-DESPER RECORDS (NARASAKI's record label) got it's name from Udespar.

The characters on THE VISITORS FROM DEEPSPACE album art are loosely based off of Alien Zetton from Ultraman or Kemur Man from Ultra Q.

Hedorian Forever is a reference to Queen Hedrian from Denshi Sentai Denziman (1980).

4/16/2017 Otsuki Kenji's "Nohohon School" (オーケンののほほん学校) @ LOFT/PLUS ONE (Tokyo, Japan)

Even though we couldn't understand most of the event, it was still a pretty cool experience.

Before the show, I thought I was late because the line I saw earlier disappeared. I took the elevator to the venue and I got to see a glimpse of Otsuki Kenji sound checking with the guests! I sneaked a few photos before I was told that I wasn't supposed to be there. eh heh heh...

There were a ton of fans that showed up for the event! We all lined up in front of the Hotel Gracery's Godzilla- it was a "line con". heh heh
My friends and I were a bit nervous since we don't know much Japanese and weren't sure what to expect from the event.

The show was like an intimate interactive fan club event- almost like a live podcast! Sometimes Otsuki Kenji would shout something and the audience would shout back in unison- it seemed like a recurring thing to do throughout the event. Oken sang, played guitar (along with NARASAKI), and interviewed guests. He shared some funny photos of himself and rare video clips of Tokusatsu lives. "Oi! Oi! Oi!" (With the help of a Japanese fan-) It was announced that Tokusatsu is rereleasing (remastered) versions of three of their old albums (Omuraiza, Natsuban, & Wata Ippai No Ai Wo!) and doing a tour in July! (Their old indie label was closed, so it was difficult to buy their albums before. You can pre-order them on HMV.) It was funny and cute how they presented it- they did a countdown and drum roll and showed it through funny drawings of themselves in a sketchbook. I'm surprised that Oken doesn't have his own TV talk show or do MC appearances- he's very entertaining. Or maybe he does and I don't know much about it...? During NARASAKI's interview, they briefly discussed the recent COALTAR OF THE DEEPERS concert and his new work with Sadesper Record on the anime, Anonymous Noise.

After the show, I got to hang out with some Twitter COTD FANs! They drank while we waited outside for NARASAKI to get a photo and autograph. The wait was very long and the fans joked that Oken and the guests were all having fun drinking. Otsuki Kenji left the building quickly while wearing a medical mask to avoid fans. I waited as long as I could, but I didn't want to deal with catching the last subway train or trying to get an expensive taxi ride back to my AirBnb by myself (kinda far). Fortunately, one of my COTD FAN friends got me NACKIE's autograph for me! :) THANKS SO MUCH! I'm really thankful that we got to see NARASAKI perform a little bit again, see Otsuki Kenji for the first time, and hang out with more COTD FANs!

Hozuki no Reitetsu & TOKUSATSU

Sadesper Record did the ending song (パララックス・ビュー [The Parallax View]) of the second episode of the anime, 鬼灯の冷徹 (Hozuki no Reitetsu). The anime aired on January 10th and is being aired on CrunchyRoll.

TOKUSATSU will be releasing a new single, シネマタイズ (映画化) [Cinematize (Eigaka)], on January 22nd!

Sadesper Record works on another anime

I just recently found out that Sadesper Record worked on the music for the anime, "Watashi ga Motenai no wa dō Kangaetemo Omaera ga Warui!" (aka WataMote).

I haven't seen the anime myself, so I don't know what the music's like. I'll try to check it out sometime.

As for COALTAR OF THE DEEPERS news... Not that much. :\

Their last live was in May and they haven't mentioned anything about Rabbit EP yet...

However, non-Japanese fans can purchase COTD goods!

What are your thoughts on the song? I personally think it's cute, but I crave for more COALTAR OF THE DEEPERS and non-anime material. However, good job for NARASAKI for getting more exposure!

Hanamaru Kindergarten photos

Sadesper Record & Goro Watari

I just received my copy of Sadesper Record's A sort of Sound Track for U.F.O.!

I'm sorry for not updating COTD FAN lately, but I have been busy with college.
I plan on including scans from this CD!

Unfortunately, the CD does not contain any lyrics...
However, here's some interesting information:

The music was for an independent movie called, U.F.O. which was directed by YU-ICHI SUKIGARA of GOD X DOG Production. Sadly, his website is not available anymore... All I know is that the movie was released in 2004 and it was a 90-minute film. The SIESTA music video is supposedly their trailer.

In this release, NARASAKI goes by the alias, GORO WATARI.

A while back, I purchased another rare CD: Goro Watari - Hinode Tracks [2008].

I will provide scans in a future COTD FAN update...

The CD came in a thick paper cover and paper slip. The package also included a piece of paper with the album artwork. Not that much information is known on Hinode Tracks other than it was a collaboration project and there were a few yearly releases. I THINK this CD was just a collection of all of NARASAKI's tracks in all the Hinode Tracks that someone decided to put together.
If you like ambience electronic music, I think you'd like this CD.

I just saw the first episode of Hanamaru Kindergarten today.
I'm not into anime that much anymore but I had to watch this show because Sadesper Record did the background music! hahaha Anything that's COALTAR OF THE DEEPERS-related or NARASAKI-related I must be a part of!
If you're into ridiculously cute anime and a little bit of mature humor, I think you'd like this anime.
It's pretty much about cute little kindergarten kids and teachers... so far.

The first episode didn't have an opening theme... unless I missed it... If I missed it then it's ridiculously short.
However, the background music in the anime was amazing. I loved the main background music theme!
It also turns out that NARASAKI composed the ending theme song!

I'm really happy that NARASAKI and WATCHMAN are active!
